Daron Larson, "Defensive Thriving: Navigating Difficult People with Mindfulness"

Idea Wave Columbus is hosting mindfulness instructor, Daron Larson, at ILLIO for a discussion and Q&A.

“Hell is other people.” (Jean-Paul Sartre) Mindfulness practice can transform our relationship to our thoughts and feelings. Consistent, intentional observation of our own subjectivity can free us from needing circumstances to be perfect in order to feel at home in our lives. But how do we maintain this freedom as we navigate the world of other – often challenging – people?

This interactive talk explores practical insights and strategies for feeling like you belong in the world even when you have decided to change your relationship to its endless challenges.

$10 cost. More information and registration, here

BREATHE into life

Greetings all! My name is Simone and I am currently enrolled in the Yoga On High 9-month Pranayama certification course. Pranayama has been source of both physical and psychological healing in my life. Prana refers to a basic, universal, all-pervading life force energy long recognized by eastern thought, which is now being more fully appreciated and studied by western science. Yoga practitioners all over the centuries have found that practicing pranayama or Yogic breath we can access this energy, harness and utilize its power. Yoga Breath is thus a wonderful key to good health, longevity and it is also a superb lea-in to meditation.

Please join me 4/22 at 7PM (free/by donation) for a practical, step-by-step explanations about the practice of basic yoga breathing techniques.
