Full Moon Ladies' Self Defense Workshop

Saturday, August 18, 12:00-3:pm

Free! Recommended for girls 12+.

We're organizing an afternoon self-defense crash course! Lauren from the Student Wellness Center will lead us in learning some self-defense basics for about 2-3hrs. We can also have some casual discussion and just enjoy the afternoon together!

Invite any other rad lady friends who'd be interested c:
(This event is for female-identified people.)

From our facilitator:

"...this is typically what we cover for a quick intro to SD: there will be some talking in the beginning (usually I go over prevalence of sexual violence, other stats, talk about socialization of women, a quick history of rape prevention strategies, victim blame, etc.)...

Then we discuss the 5 levels of self defense (which includes verbal self defense - how to be assertive, etc, in which we could do some role plays if that is something you are interested in, but we might only have time for 1, 2 at the absolute max), and then the last hour or so is spend on physical self defense, where we discuss targets and weapons, how to yell, and there would be practice to hit and kick pads - the basic strikes."
