Song for the Owl Concerts is pleased to present two incredible solo guitarists, Chuck Johnson and Mike Fekete.

Chuck Johnson is a composer and musician residing in Oakland, CA. He approaches his work with an ear towards the faults and instabilities that reveal latent beauty, and with a focus on American Primitive guitar, experimental electronics, and "folk minimalist" composition.
Chuck is touring in support of his new LP, "Blood Moon Boulder", on Scissor Tail Records. He will be performing on acoustic, electric, and lap steel guitars.

Mike Fekete is a native of Northeast Ohio. He composes for and performs solo guitar drawing influence from American folk and blues traditions. He was included on the fourth volume of the acclaimed guitar anthology series, Imaginational Anthem, and George Winston has called him “one of the great new 21st Century guitarist/composers.”

BREATHE into life with Simone Clayborn

Pranayama has been source of both physical and psychological healing in my life. Prana refers to a basic, universal, all-pervading life force energy long recognized by eastern thought, which is now being more fully appreciated and studied by western science. Yoga practitioners all over the centuries have found that practicing pranayama or Yogic breath we can access this energy, harness and utilize its power. Yoga Breath is thus a wonderful key to good health, longevity and it is also a superb lead-in to meditation. Simone is finishing her Pranayama teaching certification through Yoga On High.

Please join Wednesdays at 7PM (free/by donation) for a practical, step-by-step explanations about the practice of basic yoga breathing techniques.

Fridays, 8-10:00am

Wake Up Sangha - Community Mindfulness Practice

Sunday July 13th, 1:00-3:00pm

I'm just back from Blue Cliff Monastery. It's nice to have a retreat but it's more important to maintain a regular practice. Come for community support at Wake Up Columbus. Our monthly Sangha meetings consist of sitting meditation, walking meditation, a reading, and sharing from the heart.

Wake Up is an active global community of led by young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35, and inspired by the teachings of Zen teacher and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. We come together to practice awareness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness, and contribute to building a healthier and a more compassionate society. All ages are welcome at our gatherings.

Wake Up Columbus sessions are either led by Claire W. or me, Seth Josephson.

Claire is also developing mindfulness community in Westerville, Ohio. Updates and contact here: wholeheartsanghaofwesterville.wordpress.com.

And, I am also sitting in meditation three mornings a week at ILLIO, 13. E Tulane, 8:05-8:30 AM.

All worldly things are brief, like lightning in the sky. This life you must know as the tiny splash of a raindrop; a thing of beauty that disappears even as it comes into being. Therefore set your goal. Make use of every day and night to achieve it." -Tsongkhapa
